CCW Overview

What Do I Take?

INITIAL PERMIT (8 hours):

CCW 1

Take after you begin the on-line application.

 

 

 

RENEWAL PERMIT (4 hours):

CCW 1

SUPPLEMENTAL TRAINING:

If you are concerned about passing the live fire qualification, we offer a Basic Pistol class and private lessons to prepare you for success.  For supplemental training, follow up with our CCW 2, Basic Pistol, and Home Defense classes.

Qualification

Target:

B-27 Target

Stages:

  1. 3 yard line: 5 rounds, reload,  5 rounds

  2. 7 yard line: 5 rounds, reload,  5 rounds

  3. 10 yard line: 5 rounds, reload,  5 rounds

Total: 30 rounds

 

Passing Score:

24/30 or 80%

Maximum number of pistols: 3

CCW 1

CCW 1

This class is required for all Initial and Renewal permit holders (Many counties also require CCW 2 in addition to CCW 1, see your jurisdiction's requirements for details).  

 

This class is also accepted by State the Arizona for a non-resident CCW permit which will allow you to carry in multiple states.  See the current reciprocity list at the USCCA website. Click here to apply for the Arizona permit.  

 

The 8-hour Initial class covers the following topics:

  • Firearm safety rules

  • Laws concerning firearms possession, storage, and self-defense

  • Post-shooting procedures

  • Fundamentals of shooting

  • Loading and unloading procedures

  • Clearing stoppages

  • Discussion of terminal ballistics and ammunition selection

  • Firearm and holster selection

  • Live-fire qualification

The 4-hour Renewal class covers the following topics:

  • Firearm safety rules

  • Laws concerning firearms possession, storage, and self-defense

  • Post-shooting procedures

  • Fundamentals of shooting

  • Live-fire qualification

Required equipment:

  • Handgun with holster

  • 2+ magazines

  • 100 rounds of ammunition for each pistol 

  • Eye and ear protection

CCW 2: On the Move

CCW 2

CCW 2, along with CCW 1, is also a required course for the initial permit for the City of Concord and the Counties of Napa, Sonoma, Sacramento, and Yolo. This is a supplemental course for CCW holders in other counties or anyone interested in self-defense training. 

You won't find too many courses out there like this!  We review the basics and then work our way up to scenario training in a professional shoot-house.  We cover tactical movement, low light, tactical med, and more. Realistic scenario training is an opportunity to learn how to address violence in a safe and professional environment. NO LIVE FIRE IN THIS COURSE.

Topics to be covered:

  • Review of legal considerations in self-defense

  • Tactical movement

  • Low-light considerations

  • Extreme close-quarters shooting

  • Casualty care

  • Self-defense scenarios using AirSoft pistols against adversarial role players

Required Equipment:

  • AirSoft Protection

    • Long sleeve sweatshirt

    • Gloves

    • Groin protection or hand towel to stuff into pants

  • Recommended, but not required:

    • Glock 17/19/22/23 holster

    • Tactical Flashlight

Basic Handgun/CCW Prep

BASIC PISTOL (CCW 3)

Anybody can carry a pistol with minimal knowledge, but not everyone has the skills to accurately use the gun in a stressful self-defense situation. The goal of this course is improve your ability to defend yourself and to give you improved confidence as well. 

 

This course is applicable for three groups of people:

  1. Those who own a pistol and just want to increase their proficiency and confidence

  2. Those seeking to obtain a CCW and wish to make their CCW qualification a fun day instead of a dreaded one

  3. Those who have already obtained their CCW permit, but wish to improve their skill level.

We cover the following topics in the class:

  1. Grip, stance, sights and trigger control

  2. Reloading with efficiency and speed

  3. Clearing stoppages in minimal time with two hands, strong hand only and weak hand only

  4. Carrying and drawing from concealment with maximum efficiency and minimal time

  5. Tools to confidently pass CCW qualification without fear or worry

Required equipment:

  • Handgun with quality holster

  • 2+ magazines

  • 350 rounds of ammunition

  • Eye and ear protection

HOME DEFENSE

This one-day course focuses on how to defend yourself at home with a firearm.  It's not enough to know how to shoot, you need to build a strategy and acquire critical skills to protect your home. Our instructors will show you how to safely move through your home under low-light conditions.  We will discuss when its legal to use force in self-defense. You will undergo force-on-force training to test your skills and decision-making abilities. NO LIVE FIRE  IN THIS COURSE.

Topics to be covered:

  • Strategies to protect your home

  • Shooting fundamentals

  • Use of a flashlight in low-light environments

  • Legal considerations in self-defense

  • Solo room clearing techniques

  • Self-defense scenarios using AirSoft pistols against adversarial role players

 

Required Equipment:

  • AirSoft Protection

    • Long sleeve sweatshirt

    • Gloves

    • Groin protection or hand towel to stuff into pants

  • Recommended, but not required:

    • Glock 17/19/22/23 holster

    • Tactical Flashlight

Class does NOT satisfy state-mandated CCW curriculum.
